Therapy for Teens

Are you the parent or guardian of a 16- to 18-year-old that is feeling overwhelmed by pressure to do well in school, conflicts with friends or family, or worries about the future?

She used to be a vibrant girl, now they’re moody, isolating from friends, or even having outbursts. Is it the right time to seek professional assistance?

Historically, adolescence can be a time of discovery and change, but the demands on teens have never been greater. Overwhelming feelings about social issues such as gun violence and climate change only add to the pressures of academic performance, peer acceptance, and social media.

While still figuring out who they are, or what they want to do after high school, most teens grapple with questions of belonging, sexuality, gender identity, and how they can become more autonomous over time.

Symptoms including anxiety, depression, disordered eating and sleep issues, and self-harm often arise during this time. In my experience, teens will seek out support from their friends before talking to their caregivers.

Therapy can be an effective way for teens to work through the bigger issues. In a therapy session, your teen can gain a deeper understanding of their thoughts, feelings, and experiences, with an adult who will listen without judgement. I want to empower them to be their authentic self, to overcome overwhelm, make healthier relationships, and find new ways of coping with the challenges they are facing.

If your teen feels ready, if you are ready, feel free to take the first step. I use a combination of individualized and integrative practices and believe in supporting teens across their home, social, school, and work environments.

Therapy for Adults

Teletherapy offers the flexibility to access holistic support from the comfort of your home or office. And yes, it's just as effective as in person. By cutting out driving, parking, and waiting, you'll have less anxiety going into your sessions, making them more productive.

Adults who are highly sensitive may struggle to adapt to new changes, especially social ones.

Along with stress, you may experience somatic concerns. I believe in a deep inquiry into all aspects of you, including reproductive health and menstrual status. Imbalances in our body can make our mental health symptoms worse.

I limit the use of pathology in my practice, so we will spend less time diagnosing, and more time exploring your whole self. This can include social, spiritual, financial, and environmental aspects. Therapy can help you learn to notice the signs your body is giving you and react accordingly.
