A Soft Landing

As an empath and highly sensitive person, I know how uncomfortable it feels to be overwhelmed by emotions, especially from loved ones.

You don’t want to disappoint them. They ask for more and you are quick to give. You care so deeply that you would rather hold their pain, than see them suffer. Have you ever been ambushed by a friend or colleague who just dumps all their conflicts on you?

Like me, many sensitive people are prone to absorbing others’ emotions or physical symptoms.

To stay centered and prevent sensory overload, I’ve learned the importance of protecting myself so I don’t take on the distress of my clients or anyone else.

This is where my passion lies. I find a sense of fulfillment in advocating for and supporting other empathic people.

I’m proud to assist the kind, compassionate, and gentle souls who, despite being marginalized by misogyny, want to live fully as their authentic selves.

Advocate for You

With experience in the field of mental health spanning over 11 years, I’ve served in community mental health providing psychosocial assessments, homeless outreach, and supportive housing case management. My most recent role as a high school social worker, where I provided individual and group counseling, academic support, and career guidance, inspired me to foster a therapy practice outside the Florida educational system.

I believe it is my ethical duty as a social worker, psychotherapist, and nature-based practitioner to challenge the systems of injustice, and work towards a sustainable future, in harmony with nature.

I received my MSW in 2019 from Our Lady of the Lake University Worden School of Social Services. I am currently a Registered Clinical Social Work Intern under the supervision of Heidy Diaz, LCSW, CSWQS.

Working Together

I deeply enjoy collaborating with partners, parents/guardians, families, medical providers, schools, and other providers of care including complementary and alternative medicine practitioners.

I am proud to be a Florida-born Latina, and acknowledge that being white-passing, I have been awarded privileges that have benefited me. Through this work, I am dedicated to anti-racism and remain committed to decolonizing therapy and eliminating power dynamics within the therapeutic space.

I currently live and practice on occupied Seminole, Miccosukee, and Mascogo land.

I am based in Orlando, Florida, but can provide telehealth psychotherapy (teletherapy) to clients anywhere in the state of Florida.

Fun Fact:

I am grateful to have served in the first class of legislative interns under the leadership of Florida House Representative Anna V. Eskamani.

Soft landings are diverse native plantings under keystone trees (or any other regionally appropriate native tree), that provide critical shelter and habitat for moths, butterflies, and beneficial insects. In addition to plants, soft landings also include leaf litter and plant debris that provide a vibrant ecosystem for many flora and fauna. - HEATHER HOLM
